Director of Business Development

Our company is seeking a director of business development to join us to lead early stage clinical trials.
Position Overview
This candidate is responsible for driving exposure and business growth for our bioanalytical laboratory capabilities and products, as well as building new relationships with our clients. The ideal applicant will be skilled at creating, fostering, and growing strong client relationships.
- Must be able to build and execute excellent solution-driven capabilities and proposal defense presentations in collaboration with highly competent clinical and operational professionals.
- Create business prospects by determining the requirements of your clients and developing partnerships.
- Actively collaborate with project teams and clients to solve client problems by assisting in the creation of tailored action plans that will support them.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve personal revenue and sales goals through proactive communication and sales of global clinical trial early services to assigned clients.
- Develop and implement individual, regional and key account strategies specifically targeted at customer base growth and retention
- Responsible for assisting in the development of project proposals, including but not limited to communicating with clients, internal project directors and project managers, and providing text and supporting study budget reviews.
- Professionally conduct conference calls, client meetings, general capacity meetings and bid defense meetings with all key clients to pursue new business opportunities.
- Provide ongoing comprehensive intelligence on all major competitors; their services, acquisitions and pricing.
- Actively coordinate interactions between originators (customers) and key team members globally.
- Identify new approaches to problem solving and design solutions within the scope of responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management and respond to business challenges as necessary.
Job Requirements
- Master's degree in Biology, Pharmacy or similar field.
- Extensive knowledge of sales methods and practices.
- Familiarity with the drug development process, preferably gained in a CRO.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure without supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
- Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize, delegate and evaluate work.
- Strong and effective presentation skills; ability to convincingly present the features and benefits of services to clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a positive dialogue with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and sales management software.
